The International House of Pancakes was founded in 1958, and one has to assume the name wasn't a joke. A Google search shows a 1960 menu featuring “Hamburgers from Around the World.”
The giant new world of the Jet Age looks so small now. People from another planet are just regular lumpy white guys in funny hats. The cuisines of far away places are pancakes with different styles of jelly, or maybe crepes if you're lucky.
