Sailors land on an Island run by a mad scientist, except the island is a space station and the sailors have a robot with them. It's a good bet the script started life as a 20,000 leagues under the sea-style period piece and then was knocked off track by the success of Star Wars. You can almost hear some Disney producer's anxious phone call with the brass about re-setting movie in space. "Make sure it has a funny robot, a big epic space soundtrack, and some model shots. What do you call a 'Haunted Island' in space? 'Haunted Quasar'? I'm sure you'll think of something. Of course Borgnine is still attached, he's on contract."
