My Dinner with Andre
1981. Louis Malle
Two men have a conversation over dinner about performance, reality, responsibility, and love. Incredibly dense. Moving in its details: how close the camera is to a face, where the waiter is in the mirror. A philosophical thriller, with twists and turns and crises and resolutions. A wild and restrained experiment. It isn't clear why this movie didn't spawn a whole genre.
