Burke appears in the movie, and in promotional pictures, in a cool grey suit with futuristic lapels, but both toy manufacturers wisely choose instead to feature his J. Crew style “roughing it” flannel shirt and vest. Both include his fancy watch, which is probably water resistant but has a mechanical movement.

Ash from Alien (1979) is all science. He is passionate and motivated about learning and research but inhumane in all sorts of little ways. Burke is never not human. He is approachable, a little bit vulnerable, charismatic but not aggressive. He has run the numbers, but he’s not a machine. He is here to help, and to offer some alternatives.
