Cups are the watery element: they represent the network, the operating system that is running the program, the other end of the wire far away. Five of cups is the instruction, sent to the system from the outside. It is the environment and network disrupting the closed system, the source of all vulnerability, and also the only opening in closed system that allows the system to serve its intended purpose.
Consider how intelligible and well defined the effects of instructions are on your system. How much does the current state of the system inform the result of the next instruction? How much do clients and peers need to know about context to make use of your system?
